Eligibility
Macao residents who have successfully registered on any Higher Diploma or Bachelor Degree Programme of MPI and who satisfy the conditions detailed below are eligible for the scholarship.

Quota
The top 50 qualified students may be awarded this scholarship.

Terms of Application for Registered New Students
Graduating high school students who have represented their schools by taking part in any inter-school debating competition or speech contest (in or outside Macao), or those who have been members of their school debating / speech team may apply.

Application Procedure for Registered New Students
Applicants should visit the website of Macao Polytechnic Institute, print out the appropriate application form and submit it, together with the following documents, to the Registry (Room A101 on the main campus): application form; ID card copy; report card copy of their final year in high school; certification of their membership of a school debating team / their being a school representative in a debating competition / speech contest, and / or proof of awards in a debating competition / speech contest.

Means of Selection

1.	Registered new students: selected according to applicants'academic performance, conduct and debating / speech-making experience;
2.	Existing students: as recommended by the Institute's Debating / Speech Committee.

Form of Distribution and Value of Scholarship

1.	Registered new students: in the first year, MOP$5,000 will be discounted from annual tuition fees. During subsequent years thereafter, if the student's year-end academic performance ranks among the top 25% in the class, and they are re-selected to join the Debating / Speech Team, MOP$5,000 will be discounted from annual tuition fees.
2.	Existing students: MOP$5,000 will be discounted from annual tuition fees if the student's year-end academic performance ranks among the top 25% in the class, and they are selected to join the Debating / Speech Team.

Obligations of Scholarship Recipients

1.	New students: Automatically become members of the Institute's Debating / Speech Team in the first year, and must participate in every debating / speech activity organized by the Institute. In subsequent years thereafter, if students have their scholarships renewed, they must honour their obligations by participating in every debating / speech activity organized by the Institute.
2.	Existing students: must participate in every debating / speech activity organized by the Institute.
3.	If students in receipt of this scholarship are also discounted 100% of the annual tuition fees, this scholarship will be awarded in cash.

Others
Any other issues arising which are not specified in this regulation are subject to determination by the Institute's Management Board.
